Are you speaking to yourself like a dick?

Feeling great at 50 is so much more than excellent nutrition and regular exercise.

It's about the relationship that you have with your SELF.

You can drink all the green juice, yoga to your hearts content, and quit drinking alcohol. I recommend doing all of these if you want to feel great at 50 by the way but…

…if you're speaking to yourself like a dick, it's all bets off.

We do this in subtle and not so subtle ways, when it comes to working towards our goals, dreams and life desires.

😣 I'm such an idiot

😞 I'm just not the sort of person who could ever achieve a goal like that (whatever it is that you aspire to)

😔 I could never do that (run a marathon, meet the partner of your dreams, make 6-figures in your business)

😩 There must be something wrong with me

And that's just for starters.

We go on to provide all the reasons why. You'll hear those reasons prefaced with one little word.

Because.

→ Because I don't own one, two, or three properties by now.

→ Because my spouse feels upset by what I said.

→ Because I'm a single parent.

→ Because I'm a woman.

→ Because I'm divorced / haven't made my first million / haven't bought the kids a trampoline.

Humans (I love you so much) speak to yourselves like this, all day every day and think it's normal, and that's it's just the way it is.

Did you ever stop to question this line of thinking? Did you speak to yourself like this when you were a little kid? Did you speak to little kids like this?

Of COURSE you didn't.

That little kid who's learning to walk, stands up, takes a couple wobbly steps and falls down. Never, ever do you say “get up you little dummy!"

Quite the opposite. You say “Well done, you did amazing!” This is the way to speak to amazing little kids who are using all their effort and energy towards something that they want to achieve.

So how come as adults we think it's ok to speak to ourselves any other way?

If feeling great by the time you turn 50 is one the results you have in mind right now, speaking to yourself in kind, encouraging, celebratory tones is a habit you'll need to develop, alongside the nutrition and the exercise.

The results we have in our lives begin with the way we talk to ourselves. The way we talk to ourselves IS the relationship we have with ourself.
